Simpson's 2023 in Review

As we kick off 2024, we want to take time to reflect on the events and milestones of the past year. From achieving a few accolades to forming new partnerships, Simpson experienced a lot of growth last year. We couldn't have done it without our amazing employees whose dedication to our company's Core Values is truly inspiring. As we look back on the fond memories of 2023 listed below, we also look forward to another prosperous year!

 

EARLY 2023

  • We kicked off 2023 with a little self-care! During the month of February, we encouraged readers to not only shower loved ones with gifts but to treat themselves on Self-love Day.
  • Also in February, four of our communities (Briley Apartments, The Encore SouthParkArtisan Station and Silos South End) were named among Online Reputation Assessment's (ORA) Elite 1% for 2022. We recognize that our residents have many options in apartment homes, and we are thrilled they decide to call a Simpson community their home.

 

ACCOLADES

  • Simpson was still feeling the love in March when we received industry recognition for our mission of providing award-winning customer service. For the 20th consecutive year, we received CEL's A List Award which is based on the annual REACT survey which we cover in more detail below.
  • Our company was also named one of Denver Post's Top Workplaces 2023 not to mention other regional Top Workplaces designations. Visit SimpsonHousing.com if you're interested in joining the Simpson Family!

 

We couldn’t achieve these accolades without our employees, whether they are seasoned or new to the company. We gained 175 new employees and awarded 48 promotions in 2023. The cornerstone of Simpson's success lies in our dedicated workforce, and we persistently expand while acknowledging individuals who embody our Mission and Core Values. 

 

PARTNERSHIPS

  • In June, we welcomed a new partnership with Entryway (formerly known as Shelters to Shutters). Together, we are taking proactive steps to address homelessness in the cities where we operate. Follow the link to learn more.
  • Then in September, the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) launched the Foundations for Rental Housing which form positive relationships between rental housing providers and residents. As a supporter of the Foundations for Rental Housing, Simpson Housing has committed to pursuing and following the fundamentals outlined on NMHC’s website.
  • We also continued growing our partnership with Move for Hunger in 2023. This nationwide organization collects food donations from people who are moving to help reduce food insecurity and waste. This partnership and Simpson-hosted food drives have led to residents and employees donating thousands of pounds of food to local food banks!

 

EVENTS

  • We were honored to celebrate our employees during our company-wide Onsite Teams Appreciate Week in April.
  • Simpson celebrated a big milestone in 2023! Simpson's 75 Year Anniversary celebration took place in May at The Broadmoor destination resort in Colorado Springs, CO.
  • A couple of onsite happenings included exciting new features and amenities at Zoso Flats Apartments in Arlington, VA, a community who underwent a refresh. And Simpson's new developmentThe Camille Apartments in Bethesda, MD opened its doors in November.
  • Simpson's Make a Difference Day events made a lot of fond memories for our employees who actively gave back to their communities. In 2023, 536 employees dedicated 2,218 volunteer hours across various non-profit organizations.

RESIDENT SATISFACTION 

And finally, that brings us to the 2023 REACT Survey. Back towards the top of this post, we mentioned that we received CEL’s A List Award for 2022 which was the 20th consecutive year we did so. And no, that is not a typo! Each year, CEL & Associates, Inc. (a third-party real estate consulting firm) conducts a resident satisfaction survey we lovingly refer to as REACT. This survey provides a benchmark for property management firms level of customer service. Companies who meet or exceed the award criteria receive the A List Award, which is announced the following year; we received the 2022 A List Award in March 2023.

 

The 2023 REACT Survey was conducted in October and November; click here to read more about the astounding 52% response rate (our highest response to date) and the lucky residents who won free rent for filling out this important survey. The survey goes beyond receiving an award; it provides Simpson with valuable insights that serve as a powerful tool for concentrating on long-term goals and fostering continuous improvement in the years ahead.
